Testing Locations
The SFFMA online testing system provides for significant flexibility regarding the location of written exam sessions. As the program continues to develop, sites are being identified for which scheduled periodic testing will be administered. The online platform also provides the opportunity for one-time testing at a location, provided the necessary requirements are met. Contact SFFMA Austin staff at testing@sffma.org for more information regarding testing, or if your department is interested in hosting an exam session at your site.
SFFMA also continues with its long-standing partnership with TEEX-ESTI to provide hard-copy written examinations for the SFFMA Certification Program in certain circumstances.
The following minimum requirements must be met for a location to be considered for hosting a written exam session:
-
Professional Environment
The location must provide an enclosed, professional space that is clean, comfortable, smoke-free, and conducive to a testing environment.
-
Sufficient Testing Infrastucture
The location must have sufficient lighting, adequate ventilation, comfortable seating, and comfortable work surfaces. For online testing sessions, the location must have adequate WiFi capability to handle several users at a time.
-
Classroom Style
A classroom style setup is required, with all seating facing the same direction.
-
Separated Candidates
Candidates must be adequately separated in the testing room. There must be at least 2 feet of empty space on either side of each candidate.
-
Quiet Environment
The testing room must be located in a low-traffic area to minimize distractions to the candidates.
-
Minimum Number of Candidates
Depending on the location and other circumstances, a minimum number of candidates may need to be established for an exam session.
