State Fire Marshal’s Office: The State Fire Marshal’s Office is part of the Texas Department of Insurance. In addition to the staff located at the Austin headquarters, SFMO employees are strategically located across the state to respond quickly to requests.
Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service: TEEX has been providing fire and emergency services training for responders since 1929. Training is offered in more than 130 specialty areas.
Texas A&M Forest Service: The Texas Forest Service was created in 1915 as an integral part of the Texas A&M University system. It is mandated by law to “assume direction of all forest interests and all matters pertaining to forestry within the jurisdiction of the state.”
Texas Commission on Fire Protection: The mission of TCFP is to aid in the protection of lives and property of Texas citizens through the development and enforcement of recognized professional standards for individuals and the fire service. Its two main goals are to provide education and enforce statewide standards.
Texas Emergency Services Retirement System: TESRS administers a pension system for volunteer fire and emergency services in communities statewide. In addition to a pension benefit, membership in TESRS provides for death and disability benefits.
Texas Division of Emergency Management: TDEM addresses all components of emergency response in the state, including preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation. In addition to its headquarters in Austin, the agency delivers services to the state through six regional offices.
